About
the Artist

My name is Hallie, and I grew up on the beautiful San Juan Island, just outside the town of Friday Harbor. From a young age I showed interest in many different creative outlets. I would draw, dance, and daydream my island days away. I am also very drawn to the world of fantasy. I like to imagine myself as a princess tasked with befriending the dragon that flew near my village, or as a fairy bringing color to the flora and fauna. I read and watch a lot of fantasy stories that continue to build my love for the genre, so when it came to making my art, I found most of my inspiration there.

I started working with pottery in 2023 after taking a hand-building class at Alchemy Art Center. That is where I learned of their scholarship program and applied for it. At that time in my life I was recovering from cancer and an autoimmune disease that had taken over my life. Working with clay became my therapy and an escape from my new normal of constant doctor’s appointments and daily pain. Since then I have honed my craft and taken more classes through Alchemy, including wheel throwing in October 2024. I am now healthy, free of cancer, and work full time at making pottery. The feel of clay in my hands and the satisfaction of pulling a finished piece from the kiln will never fail to enrapture me and I am so thrilled to be sharing my work with my family, friends, and now you!
